AI Safety Debate
On the eve of the AI Action Summit in Paris, we proudly announce our AI Safety Debate with Prof. Yoshua Bengio!📢
On the panel:
Billy Perrigo from TIME
Jaan Tallinn from Future of Life Institute (FLI) and Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, University of Cambridge
The one and only David Wood will be our moderator.
Our debate will take place 9 February 20:00 at Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and is publicly accessible, because we think that 1) AI existential risks need to be discussed, and 2) this discussion needs to be public.

Review: “May we expect aligned superintelligence?” - Open lecture and debate with Simon Friederich (RUG)
Friederich "did not want to be pessimist", but did inform our audience that advanced AI may cause human extinction, and that the concept of aligning a superintelligence might not be merely a solvable, technical problem.
Insightful discussion and an amazing audience - thanks everyone for being there!

Nobel Prize winner Geoffrey Hinton now thinks there is a 10-20% chance that AI will "wipe us all out" and calls for regulation. Our proposal is to implement a Conditional AI Safety Treaty: an international treaty that would halt dangerous training runs if and when AI capabilities get too close to loss of control.
DeepSeek AI published some impressive results, the other day! With technological leadership comes responsibility, however. China, the US, and eventually other countries should sign a Conditional AI Safety Treaty to make sure uncontrollable AI will not be created anywhere.
The first-ever International AI Safety Report is here, mandated by 30 nations and the OECD, UN, and EU. Among the ~100 contributors are Nobel laureates, Turing Award winners, and many other leading international experts. Speaker at our upcoming event Yoshua Bengio served as Chair!
